Best subreddits for SaaS and startups
Leadhoot teamOctober 2, 20266 min read
Thirteen subreddits where founders, operators and buyers of software actually hang out, ranked by size, with notes on where you can mention what you built.
The biggest startup subreddits are r/Entrepreneur (5.3M members), r/smallbusiness (2.5M) and r/startups (2.1M). For SaaS specifically, r/SaaS (809K) and r/SideProject (846K) are the most useful, and r/microsaas and r/indiehackers are small but full of builders who buy tools.

Where buyers are, not just builders
Founder subreddits are full of other founders. Great for feedback, weaker for sales unless you sell to founders. If you sell to small businesses, r/smallbusiness is where owners ask "what do you use for invoicing" and "is there a tool that does X". Those posts are leads.
- Sell to founders: r/SaaS, r/startups, r/indiehackers, r/microsaas.
- Sell to small businesses: r/smallbusiness, r/Entrepreneur, then the industry subreddit (r/HVAC, r/Bookkeeping, r/realtors).
- Launching: r/SideProject first, then a value-first write-up in r/SaaS or r/EntrepreneurRideAlong.
How to post without getting removed
- Read the rules and the pinned weekly thread. Most strict subreddits allow links only there.
- Lead with what you learned, numbers included. Mention the product once, at the end, if at all.
- Answer other people's questions for a few weeks first. Account history is checked; see how yours looks with the Reddit user analyzer.
- Post when the subreddit is awake. The best time to post tool reads it from that subreddit's top posts.
Leadhoot watches these subreddits and alerts you when someone asks for what you sell.
