Twitter Character Counter and Limit Checker (X, Threads, Bluesky)

What this tells you

Paste your post and see how many characters X will count, not just how many letters you typed. X counts every link as 23 characters whatever its length, and most emoji and CJK characters as 2, so a post that looks short can still be over 280. The same text is checked against Threads, Bluesky, Reddit and LinkedIn limits.

The formula

X weighted count = Latin characters × 1 + emoji and CJK characters × 2 + each link × 23 · limit 280 (25,000 with Premium)

How to read the result

  • Green means it fits. Orange means you are within 20 characters of the limit. Red means the platform will cut you off or refuse the post.
  • X Premium raises the limit to 25,000, but only the first 280 characters show before "Show more". Write the first 280 as if they were the whole post.
  • Threads allows 500 characters plus a link preview. Reddit's 300 limit applies to the title only; the body allows 40,000.
