Reddit Comment Search: Find Comments by Keyword

What this tells you

Type a phrase to search Reddit comments, not just post titles. Reddit's own search mostly finds posts, so recommendations, complaints and "I'd pay for this" moments buried in comment threads are hard to reach. Results show the comment, its upvotes, the subreddit and a link straight to it.

The formula

the phrase is matched against public comment text across Reddit · ordered by Reddit's own relevance · NSFW and quarantined subreddits are left out · results cached for an hour

How to read the result

  • Comments are where buyers name tools. Search a competitor's name to see what people like and dislike about it, in their own words.
  • Search the problem, not your product: "recommend a bookkeeper" finds people asking for help in threads whose titles never say so.
  • A high-scoring comment that recommends a tool is the clearest sign of what a subreddit trusts. Answer in that style.

Frequently asked questions

Type a phrase above and press Search comments. Reddit's built-in search has a Comments tab inside its results; this tool goes straight to comment text and links you to each comment.

Add the subreddit's topic words to the phrase to narrow it, then filter by the subreddit shown under each result. On Reddit itself, open the subreddit, search, and switch to the Comments tab.

Use the Reddit user analyzer to see where an account comments most. Reddit only shows a user's full comment history on their own profile.

Deleted and removed comments, comments in private subreddits, and NSFW subreddits are not searchable here.
